Sandwich Baron #FAIL!

I’m getting more irate by the minute.  I ordered a salad (a freaking SALAD) from Sandwhich Baron over two hours ago [11.24am].  I’ve tweeted them three times, DM’ed them and called once.  First the driver didn’t know where to go (despite me ordering from them numerous times before today and having them deliver it to me without hassle at the exact same address) then I got a call to confirm my address and the directions (twice), then a call back to let me know the driver was lost and they were dispatching another one, then a call from some chick in Melville who had my order.

It’s been a further half an hour since that call and despite being reassured “the driver will be there in minutes” I’m still sitting here wondering why I didn’t just listen to my stomach the first time round and order from Debonairs.

What really bugs me is that despite hearing stories of how they’d cut down on their toppings and quality and then experiencing it for myself, I decided after a month that I’d give them another shot.

  1. I am f*ckn starving
  2. I am hugely annoyed at the lack of solution or reassurance
  3. I’m trying to be healthy here, dudes at Sandwich Baron, you’re not making it very fucking easy for me
  4. Screw this, I’m ordering a pizza.  At least with them if they don’t arrive in under 49 minutes I get it free.

Very disappointed because until now the service has been pretty fast, if not spectacular. I’ll definitely not support you again.

[13:14pm] Update: The dude just walked in, politely apologized, blamed someone else and handed me a wilted and warm salad drenched in liquidized salad juice.  I don’t think so, buddy.  Sent that right back from when-st it came.

I think the driver is totally to blame. Clearly they have a new moron driver. I would give them one more chance. Cos it sounds like the entire chain of events began with the driver getting lost. If you have had super service in the past, and one silly driver has ruined it once, then they deserve another chance. It sounds like they have tried their best to accommodate you, but the driver let them down. I suggest you write them a letter stating that you are completely unimpressed by their driver.

  2. Shebee says:

@Justin, the service wasn’t brilliant the first few times, that’s why I’m so cross now.

@Tanya, I felt too guilty for pizza, I’ve been so good! So I went up the road and ordered a salad…

  3. Brent says:

I would give them a chance but only after they comped me a free meal, I use them often and they are normally pretty good. Not the quickest though so don’t order if you are starving. #toptip

  4. Guy McLaren says:

hmm fast food is not healthy, maybe thats why they took their time. It’s the health factor, and WTF is wrong with you ordering a salad. A skinny little thing like you needs real food.

  5. jubs says:

    ha ha.

    i sympathize with u buddy…but u crack me up…
glad to see u doing so well… despite the starving…. and ur kittehs are beautiful!
love u long time babe 🙂

  6. Jacks says:

Ah, white South Africans…so quick to whine yet too lazy to get off their own asses and start their own businesses (much like many of the Sandwich Baron franchisee’s). You ordered a salad from a sandwich shop. Perhaps therein lies the problem.

  7. Brent says:

Jacks, I don’t think that is a fair comment to make, Sandwich Baron offers a service that they actively punt, she was just responding to that service by ordering from their available menu.
Making comments about peoples race and calling them lazy based on no inside knowledge is both rude and uniformed, to ensure that our service levels remain high people need to complain about poor service.

  8. Shebee says:

Guys I heard back from the branch in question, turns out to be Milpark branch. Jenny called me yesterday afternoon and despite starting out the conversation telling me the way I complained was “vulgar and distasteful” (I got the distinct feeling she wanted me to apologize – I didn’t) and saying it happened and there was nothing they could do, she changed her tune half way through the conversation.

She then apologized, tried to find out where they went wrong (about freaking time), offered me a freebie (which I declined politely) and after pointing out that I’d put a typo on Twitter about me having to wait for 3 hours (it was meant to be two, like it says in this blog post) we went our own separate merry ways.

Anyway, as for Milpark Sandwich Baron, thanks for contacting me back, but the way I feel right now pretty much boils down to this: you win some, you lose some.

I’m sorry – I have to be honest: I was contacted throughout the process of their failure, sure, but I’m still not enamored by that branch. I have to give kudos to the Head Office, Annemarie Cassel in particular, who really handled things well.

  9. Tara says:

Vulgar and distasteful? Really? Why, because you used fuck once or twice? Or perhaps because you did it on the interwebs where anyone can read about the disaster. Pfft.
