Christmukka & no glasses

Am v. hungover.  From Saturday still.  Have realised I am far too old for shooters.  Especially delicious ones that taste like strawberry Nesquick.  I blame ExMi’s fiancée, he’s evil.  But fun.

Held our annual Christmukka party at our place on Saturday and was really bummed to find that exactly half of my Christmas decorations from last year have gone AWOL.  How does that happen?!  Anyway.  Made the place look prettyish anyway:

So each year our guests are sent a brief.  In the brief they need to do the following:

  1. Bring along one unisex present each, to the value of R100
  2. Bring along their favourite meal to share with others
As an ice-breaker, we tend to do the presents early on in the evening.  Each person rolls a dice and has actions to do according to the number rolled:
1 & 2 = drink a shot of anything in the photo below
3 & 4 = Nominate someone else to drink for you
5 = Steal someone else’s present
6 = Pick a present of your own
Needless to say, there were far too many 1s and 2s being rolled, and far too few 6s.  Supper time couldn’t have come soon enough.
I did manage to bag a really cool present from Exmi, being this cracked nail polish below.  Yay!

In other news, on Saturday morning I went to see an eye doctor to see if I am viable for LASIK eye surgery.  AND I AM!  I’ve been booked in for the 11th December and I am beyond excited!

No more bumping into things at night!

No more looking for my glasses while crawling around on hands and knees (or waking Jon up to find them for me!)

I don’t care that it costs a bunch, it’s so worth it.  And I’ve found such a cool dude, that I’m completely at ease about the whole surgery.  Wish me luck 🙂

Sounds like enormous fun – I think we might just do this for Christmas this year!
Yay for the LASIK eye surgery! I know a couple of people who’ve had it and they say that it has changed their lives.
Great seeing you guys yesterday. 🙂

Nail polish isn’t unisex though….. don’t get mad Exmi etc just pointing that out 🙂

Best xmas present you could give yourself, the cost of new lenses/frames every couple years will soon add up to the cost of lasik.

I thought the table looked lovely!
And yes, ExMi’s fiance is evil incarnate when it comes to tequila… You can just ask my Glugster!

I had LASIK done a few years ago (aged 35-ish) and wished I could’ve afforded it far sooner. Best, best, BEST thing EVER-EVER. Being able to see better than my non-bespectacled friends, wear any darned sunglasses I want, no more filthy/broken/lost/uncomfortable spectacles means bliss.

I are a live, I says. The rumours of my demi-eyes are gross and aggregated.

All that aside, if you’re mentally prepared for having LASIK done, the benefits are amazing. Besides, the actual procedure wasn’t really so scary IMO. They gave me a handful of calmatives, did the thing and 2 days later I was back at work. My eyes took about 6-12 months to completely settle, but the improvement was unbelievable. For a myopic nerd to be able to read signs 50m away was brilliant.
