Metamorphosis Part 1

Last week I was approached to take part in an experience I’d never before been part of, called Metamorphosis. I had no idea what it was, other than a few lines on the internet that told me it was a somewhere between reflexology and energy disbursement, via light movement and pressure points in feet, hands and the head, representing the past, present and future.

Metamorphosis basically helps release tension / stress / post traumatic things, going back to three generations. A tall order, I found myself thinking. And then, “Oh god, three generations? Of my family? No thank you – I don’t want that, I’m too scared of what comes up”. Luckily though, it’s not as scary as sitting with a psychic who then spews out all the family secrets – in fact, with meta you don’t even actually need to converse or pay attention to what the practitioner is even doing.

With an open mind, I got in my car and drove over to Jean, the darling practitioner who welcomed me into her intimate home and started educating me on her life’s passion and calling. For two hours we happily chatted away while I got a relaxing foot massage, hand tickle and the best head massage I ever remember receiving. In terms of actual metamorphosis – there hasn’t been any noticeable changes yet, it’s only week 1 of 9, so I’ll be patient. But I will say that I’ve had a few nights of very restless sleep, and vivid dreams of insecurities and fears I’ve harbored for ages, so maybe that’s something my subconscious is working through?

I initially thought I’d start out rating every session, but that makes no sense because I’m not an expert and to be honest, this kind of science is way above my comprehension even. More than that, it was such a personal experience to be with Jean, to listen to the theories she lives by and her life story – she is an incredible walking story, the writer in me came to life in her presence. I’ll tell you a bit more about her very own metamorphosis experience next time, if I get her permission. Until then, read up on what Jean’s Metamorphosis is all about, and click here to book some time with her.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • It’s R450 per session, with a recommendation of 9 sessions in total, with options to “top up” if and when necessary after some time.
  • If paying up front, there is a sizeable discount on offer.
  • Jean is based halfway between Northcliff and Melville and operates out of her home.
  • Dress comfortably and be ok with lots of physical touching of feet, lower legs, hands, arms, head, neck and back.
  • You won’t need to strip as everything is done above clothing, so you’re comfortable at all times.
  • Be better than me: give yourself a proper pedi first as your feet will be bare ass naked.
  • Go with an open mind and don’t expect instant gratification (very hard for me as I am all about instant gratification).

Continued in Part 2 here.

PS: I wasn’t paid for this post, but am receiving treatments at no charge with an expectation to give my honest feedback either in person, or online, of my experience with Metamorphosis. I promise to keep it honest and not fluff it up in anyway unnecessarily.
