Competition time with Steri Stumpie!

It’s competition time!

So this week sees mine and Jon’s 2nd Anniversary.  I’m being ridiculous about it for a few reasons;

1.  Two years is longer than every other relationship I’ve ever had with a boy

2.  Two years in and not only have I not scared him off, stabbed him or poisoned him with my food, but I’m still as happy and in luuuuuuuurve as I was on day one, if not more

3.  Two years is 24 months which is 730 days, which is 17 520 hours that I’ve been ‘claimed’ by someone, and liked it

4.  Two years shows that I’ve found a good apple and not a bad litchi that uses and abuses

In light of this momentous occasion, I’ve teamed up with the milky guys at Steri Stumpie (because they’re my best drink evar) to hold a competition.  I’ll be giving a few rad little hampers away containing all sorts of Steri goodness and merchandise, and all you need to do is comment on this blog post and tell me about your most amazing accomplishment achieved in less than two years.

Winners will be chosen and announced right here in the comments section on Wednesday 31st August at 3pm.

PS: you can join in on Steri goodness by scootching over to their pages here:

Anyway, my most amazing accomplishment in the past two years, is the same as yours. Somehow managed to score myself a magnificent boyfriend, who treats me like the princess I was always meant to be, yet leaves me free to feel every emotion I have to, and does not suffocate me. He understands my need for independence, he loves the way I tailor my life towards my daughter, and he adores my daughter. They have a secret club of two that I am only sometimes allowed to join in on.

It’s summed up like this – every time my daughter drew her family, she always drew two people. In the last two years, she’s started to draw three people.

It is my biggest, surprise success. Love. Who the hell would’ve thought it?

  2. Chris M says:

Firstly, congratulations! I’m super happy for you 🙂

Right, so let’s look at my most amazing accomplishment achieved in less than two years. It’s not a tricky one because I blogged about it the other day, so it’s fresh in my mind.

About 5 years ago I was studying, working at a pizza delivery place, building the odd website here and there, but wasn’t doing something substantial. This is when it dawned on me, I wanted a proper job, I wanted a good salary and I wanted to do something bigger and that’s when I started looking for proper senior developer jobs. It didn’t take too long before I had landed one and I told myself that I wouldn’t spend my salary, instead I would keep it, save it and build up enough to buy a house. Buying a house in Cape Town, specifically the Southern Suburbs, is a big deal, costs are absolutely crazy and without a support system in place, I knew it would be a big hurdle, but I put my head down, put a 5 year action plan into place and went forth.

On Friday, this Friday, I’m moving into my new house. It’s in Harfield Village, it’s absolutely gorgeous and it’s the biggest thing I’ve done in the last 10 years, let alone 5! This goal was the biggest goal for me and to have achieved it still leaves me wondering how to be honest, because I thought it was going to take me a good few more years than it did.

So, what better than a brand new house with a Fridge full of Caramel Steri Stumpies.. come on, there’s nothing better, you know it! And the drink aside, my white coffee hoodie from Steri Stumpie needs a friend 😉

I think the best thing I’ve done over a two year period is braving pregnancy and motherhood again after losing our angel, Jamie. With the support of my blog readers and friends I was able to pick up the pieces of my heart and start our family again despite the feelings of failure and fear 🙂

  4. SimonB says:

Congrats on 2years, hope you have many many more happy year. My wife and I are celebrating 61320 hours, 3679200 minutes, 220752000 seconds which turns out to be 84 months or 7 happy years on the 14th August.

So 2 years achievements.. Mmm lets think: Founded a mobile development startup in October 2009. Todate we have seen 142000+ downloads from193 countries. We have won 2 prestigious development awards. The only developer in South Africa to have been awarded the exclusive Nokia Developer Champion Diploma and named as one of the Top 200 Young South Africans by Mail & Guardian.

The good news is that at least I know I am still young. heehee

All these achievements could not have been possible without the special people who work with me and my wife who keeps me on my toes. Thank you guys, you rock. Lets hope the next 2 years will bring even more good stuff.

Who knows maybe one day when I grow up I can be like @ChrisM and own my own house. Hopefully in the next few years 😛

  5. Keenan Kyle Harduth (@KeenyKeenz) says:

I think my most amazing accomplishment would probably be getting my act together and studying towards a degree. Finishing 2 years of the degree in 2 years while working full time. Its amazing what you can do when you apply yourself!

  6. Anonymous says:

Congratulations to you two! Keep going.

For me, the last two years have been purely surviving severe sleep deprivation in getting the twins from babas to actual little people. Not that we are sleeping much better now, but just saying… and that we love Steri Stumpie.

  7. Richard says:

I get really into competitions like this because everyone tries to prove how much better they are than everyone else and by the end, most of us are claiming to have been to space on a seahorse (totally done that just by the way). Now that I’ve got that out the way, let me tell you about MY best accomplishment in under 2 years…

Two years ago.. just after breaking it off with the ex fiance, who (dear Dr Phil, please help) cheated on me with then-best-man I was almost R100k in debt for supporting her and her habits (not illegal unless you count indulgence). I was young, irresponsible and led down the path of “love” to which now I know far more about In the last two years… I have clawed my way out to only having a small overdraft and have bought a new car (it may not seem like a big deal but it is), started applying to study, turned 27, found ACTUAL love (only 13 months, not like you lifers on here) and survived.

Oh, and don’t forget about that sea horse thing. I’m serious about that.

  8. Angel says:

Good lawd Shebeeliciousness, how the fork do you expect me to remember something like that at my age!?

My failing aged memory aside, it feels like just yesterday that you and Jon got together! I still think its awesome and I still love to see how happy you are, as Sheena’s Sheena and as Jon’s Sheena!

I reckon my biggest achievement in under two years was talking about, then planning to do, and then resigning from being a full time emloyee with a salary so that I could become “The Cupcake Lady” completely.

  9. Georgie says:

Ok you over achievers. I have looked after a terminal ill person (Got told he would not live longer than 3 months) . Had to take over his business, learn how to run it on a technical and practical way. Then to top it all travel approx 100 km to and from work in traffic everyday (Yes 7 days a week). So now I am bread winner, sole supporter of a house hold. So suffer us all I am the crazy middle aged Aunt of this Ms Blogger, so shucks Honey we have come along way Baby, just save me a sip PLEASE. Love to you all and proud of YOU XXX

  10. SimonB says:

@Richard,quick question – What seahorse did you use on your journey to space? It didnt happen to be a knysna seahorse? Planning a trip of my own and looking to know which species works the best, or does it depend on the type of grass you were smoking on the day? heehee

  11. CC says:

Everyone always comments when it’s a competition, well I don’t want to win, I’ve never tasted Steri Stumpie and my life can pretty much go on if I never do.

Congratulations on your two year anniversary 🙂

  12. Flarkus says:

Congrats on surviving the 12-month itch and the 2-year implosion, Sheena.

In the past 2 years, I’ve reconnected with my spiritual side, after nearly 10 years of simply floating along in an agnostic bubble. Thanks to my dearest (with whom I celebrated 10 years of togetherness this past April) and unexpectedly my ex-boss of all people, I’ve found a circle of friends who share an open-minded approach to all things spiritual, emotional and fulfilling. It’s opened my eyes again to the importance of loving yourself and appreciating who you are and what you’re capable of.

So just what does this have to do with Steri Stumpie? Not a whole lot, by my guess. So if I win some sweet milky tasty goodness, I’d love to donate it to an orphanage in a needy area. You choose!

  13. SE says:

In the past 2 years i have had a beautiful baby girl that has changed my life for the better, who has given me ups and down and makes me laugh like today she got hold of my purple-black nail polish and painted her nails, toes, top and couch. My little artist in the making!!!!

  14. Jenty says:

Congrats on the 2 year mark :))
I suppose my greatest achievement in the last 2 years is my photography business… I didn’t think I had a creative bone in my body… and look at me now. Just wish I could do it full time.

  15. Oasis says:

In the last 2 years I have bought my own place, got a driver’s license (legit) and a car and 2 promotions at work

  16. Siobhan says:

Congrats on your anniversary! I feel the same way when I share an anniversary with my fiance!! 😀

The most accomplished thing I ever did was start my online jewelry business. I started last year and while it is still small, I do okay and I proved to myself that I CAN do it even when I thought I couldn’t! It IS my greatest achievement!

  17. Annette Milne says:

I’ve been married for about a year and a half. Big accomplishment in my books so far. Before my hubby I couldn’t stay with a guy for more than 3 months because they started to irritate me.

  18. Rudi says:

I have eaten a whole box of those marshmallow easter eggs, IN ONE GO!! How awesome is that?? My friends still speak of my awesome feat!

  19. Monique Ross says:

My greatest accomplishment would have to be surviving my dug addiction, being reunited with my parents and family, learning how to use social media as a tool for my healing, having a baby ( learning how to be a woman that needs to care and be needed for someone other than myself) Getting married to an amazing man @craigross316. Winning the 2010 SA Blog Awards, celebrating my husband success in making the Mail and Guardian top 200 list (after all I had some part to play, we all know the saying) Travelling more than 10 times in a year and not paying a cent. I think that will be all for know. PS: Sheena Congrats to you and Jon, you are an amazing Woman I wish you all the success for the future and may you accomplish all the desires of your heart. Love Monique xxxx

  20. Dawn Wallenkamp says:

My most amazing accomplishment in the last two years would have to be my daughter. She is in her 3rd year of varsity and achieved 7 out of 10 distinctions last year and so far this year she has achieved 5 out of 5 distinctions. She is a wonderful young lady, has good Christian values, morals and integrity. She is kind and generous and I find that having her as a daughter is the GREATEST accomplishment in life.

  21. Lee Ann Cantrell says:

My accomplishment has been to get fit! obviously this is still a work in progress, but the fact I have now entered my first serious cycling race (Momentum 947 Cycle Challenge) is a huge step to my end goal …. and enjoying a Steri Stumpie after each session is the best.

  22. Yolande Murphy says:

Bravest thing I’ve done not in two years but over two years is work hard on a marriage which has definitely had it’s ups and downs (it’s three years in December). It hasn’t been easy but it’s so rewarding now knowing if we could make it through all the tough times in the first two years, life can throw anything at us in the next 50 to come and we’ll come out stronger and happier as a couple. 😀

  23. Fem says:

2 years to decide which Steri stumpie flavour I like more. Chocolate won hands down. And then the new coffe flavour comes 2nd

  24. Jacqui Gray says:

Well Done, Sheen! Amazing how much you have accomplished in the last 2 years! Seeing you happy and successful is awesome – we have come a long, long way! Hang onto the happiness!
So much has happened in the last 2 years – becoming a single mom of 4 could be the accomplishment..but its not – that’s just life, and I love my mob (eventhough I am now home schooling – there’s a very fine line between loving your children and turning homicidal!) Only 3 modules to go and then I have my PGCE. Two years of pregnancy, new baby, losing my dad, the domestic situation, 3 jobs, studying, living alone with the 4 kids on the farm… I even jumped in a show, but what counts is that I can now drive my own computer!! I have finally, sort of, caught up with the rest of you! I can social network with the best of them!! Only you will really grasp what an achievment that has been for me!
Have a blast in the land of domestic bliss – I wish you all and every happiness!

  25. Lusa says:

Congrats! I hope you have many more years together.

My greatest accomplishment in two years would be being able to stick 20 marshmallows or less in my mouth at one time! I was quite surprised!

  26. Bianca says:

    Hi guys.

Getting clean, celebrating the longest relationship I’ve ever had and the happiest. I think this prize deserves to be shared by me and my darling 🙂

<3 love you guys and happy 2 years. Snap!

  27. Anél van Wyk says:

I gave birth to a beautifull boy on the 29th of March 2011, and it only took 9months to get there!!! My biggest accomplishment yet.

  28. Chanté says:

    Steri Stumpie love

Within the last 2 years I met the most awesome guy who loves me so much and who knows me so well that he e-mailed Steri Stumpie without me knowing to tell them how much I LOVE their flavoured milk. I was sooo suprised when they made the Steri Drop and I knew that he was the one I wanted to spend my life with =)

  29. Fishmeistercod says:

I Matriculated in 2009. Immediately after the graduation ceremony, the school hired me as a Mathematics teacher, which I spent the entire of 2010 doing.

I taught Maths to my old friends from Grade 11. I’d say that’s an achievement. 😛

  30. Angelique says:

WoW Congrats guys!!! Well my greatest acomplishment I have achieved in less than two years is…..uhm……OH JA….I was ADDICTED TO STERI STUMPI, during my pregnancy, and still is. Baby was born (To my astonishment not green, by all the Creme Soda Stumpies I drank) and he is turning 2 next month and now HE IS the stumpie addict! He gets one every day, and if he sees one in pnp he goes totally CRAZY and grabs the strawberry or creme soda one. Its like a stumpie legacy!!! long live steri stumpi 🙂 😉 So my BIGGEST acomplishment in less than 2 years????? Raising a stumpi baby 🙂

  31. Syllable says:

It’s taken about a year, but for the first time in ages, I’m actually in a job I don’t hate. And it’s been a very long time since I’ve had a job for longer than a year (13 months and counting). Plenty of reason to celebrate 😀

  32. Tash says:

In the last 2 years a lot has happened…my little family and I moved from the big city to a small farming community just more than 2 years ago. We basically started over, with new friends, new jobs…a new life. It took quite some time to adapt to “country life” but today I can honestly say I love it. I also started in a new job with no previous experience, was given the opportunity to prove myself and I love what I do. I have a wonderful manager, who I am very thankful for. My kids love the country and fresh air and the daunting changes turned out to be blessings in disguise.

And although the local store can sometimes be frustrating due to the lack of products, at least Steri Stumpie is always available!

  33. Meghann Pampallis says:

    Congrats 🙂

This year my hubby and I are going to year number 8 😀

So in the last 2 years Ive managed to help my hubby in establishing our coffee machine business – phew ! Blood, sweat and tears I tell you 😉
Among my list of other things:

  34. David says:

”My most amazing accomplishment” was to drink all the flavours of steri-stumpie, in fact i’ve accomplished this in only 2 days…

  35. Shebee says:

Okay guys. Firstly, thank you all so much for your patience, for some reason I was locked out of the back end of my blog for a few days. I’m still not sure what I did wrong, but it seems to have been fixed now so woo!

On to the prizes: please can the following lucky people send a mail to me with their full name, cell phone & postal address. Also a DNA sample, Credit Card details & a pair of dirty socks:

    1. Chris M – for always being one of the firsts to leave a genuine comment on my blog, but more importantly for accomplishing his dream – to buy a house in his own name in under 5 years. Wowsers.

    2. Cath – my bff twin who found love almost around the same time I did. And because I can. But don’t send me your details though, I already have way too many where it concerns you.

    3. Richard – because HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA. Read his comment, you’ll know why.

    4. Siobahn (Shee-oh-barn? Shy-ohb-awn?) – hell, just because I don’t know how to pronounce your name.

    5. Dawn – for having a daughter exactly the opposite of me. Congrats!

    6. Lee Ann Cantrell – holy crap! For doing what you’re doing you deserve 10 hampers all by yourself. Well done, chickie!

    7. Bianca – for getting clean, and for (apparently) loving me.

    8. Meghann – for starting up a whole coffee buzznezz with her hubby. And also because I want you to send me free coffee. I’m kidding. Not. Please?

    9. Lusa – because dude can fit 20 marshmallows in his/her mouth. That deserves a gift.

My email addy is sheenagates at gmail dot com

    Well done all!

  36. Chris M says:

I never win stuff. Tuesday’s are the worst day of the week for me and it looks like this might change for this week.

    Thank you Sheebs! 🙂

  37. Siobhan says:

I won! OMG I WON I WON *SCREAMS at the highest pitch possible to man*

    *runs around house screaming*
I won! This makes cleaning house SO much better!

THANK YOU! I shall mail you and include details on how to say my name

  38. Cath says:

YAAAAY! I WON! I won’t send you my details, because, frankly, as you said, you have way too many of mine already, and I don’t think you need any of my socks. Which reminds me, I’m almost certain I still have a pair of yours. YAAAAAY! You made my day! xxx

  39. Richard says:

I actually had to go back and read the comments to make sure there wasn’t some overachieving Richard that might have made a comment equal or greater than mine.

Thanks for that Richard for not posting because it means that I won something! Woooooo!

Thanks to Sheena (you rock!) and Steri Stumpie (seriously when can we expect Snoek and Atchar flavour?)!

  40. Siobhan says:

I sommer saved my picture hehehehe 😀 ok that’s a tad crazy! Lol!

I know I know! I have Google reader on the pc, but because I’m always on my bb, I read blogs on here now. Just a bit easier… And there isn’t a google reader app, which sucks!
